Draco Malfoy
NAME: Draco Alastair Malfoy
ALSO KNOWN AS: Malfoy, Draco, Dragon (only his parents have ever called him this)
DATE OF BIRTH: June 5, 1980
BLOODLINE: Pureblooded to the core
FORMER HOUSE: Slytherin
AFFILIATION: Death Eater
MARITAL STATUS: Married
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Daphne Greengrass Malfoy
SEXUAL PREFERENCE: Heterosexual

Name
DRACO: meaning a large serpent, dragon (in Latin); Draco is also is a far northern constellation that contains the Cat's Eye Nebula, a deep-space object that looks like a blue disc, and Thuban, the ancient Egyptian's pole star (several Egyptian pyramids were aligned on it).
ALASTAIR: meaning "protector"

Magic
WAND: 10", hawthorne, Abraxan tailhair
HAWTHORNE TREE - stubborn but loving people with those who can take their "thorns". They tend to be very beautiful in youth. They bring out the worst in their friends but as a way of helping them to root out bad habits and attitudes. They are protective of all they consider to be family. They can be tough to work with because they demand total business attitudes and so do not joke around but attend only to the business at hand. They can be shrewd business people. They are very dependable and stable.
PATRONUS: Wolf (family, loyalty, strength)
BOGGART: His mother dying (has been since his sixteenth birthday)
STRENGTHS: Potions, Charms, the Dark Arts, talented Occlumens, Unforgivable Curses, flying
WEAKNESSES: History of Magic
CREATURES: Eagle owl named Emperor, but he has trained the creature to not seek him out

Outward
HEIGHT: 1.82 m [6'0"]
WEIGHT: 58.9 kg [130 lbs], due to his fugitive status. Around 65.7 kg [145 lbs] would be more accurate for him when completely healthy, depending on activity level.
DISTINGUISHING MARKS: Draco bears the Dark Mark on left forearm, placed there after his sixth year, rather than before as some believed. He also has several scars – a very faint scar on his arm from the hippogriff because the injury was not very bad, faint a scar on his chest from Harry's use of Sectusempra on him because Draco did not take enough dittany necessary to fade both his facial mark and the mark on his chest and a rather nasty scar above his right hip from a hex wound in the final battle that he was unable to heal properly enough to leave a lesser mark.
APPEARANCE: Draco is naturally slender and very leanly muscled at the best of times, though quite angular at the worst, especially now after recent years of living a life far from luxury. His facial structure is clearly inherited from his father, his features slightly pointed when healthy and startlingly sharp when unhealthy. Even on the run, he often cannot avoid falling into the inborn carriage of someone used to acting and being treated like royalty. As far as his skin tone, pale very much describes Draco, who does not normally benefit from a healthier undertone to his pale skin, again favoring his father over his mother.

While his hair color is naturally the infamous Malfoy white-blonde and his eyes a dark grey equally attributable to both his Malfoy and Black blood (depending on which parent one might have heard the pronouncement from), his time as a fugitive has necessitated some changes in his appearance to make himself less visible. His hair is now a dark/dirty-blonde to blend into crowds and, rather than charmed to be such, he has chosen to rely on what he derisively refers to as the 'Muggle technique' of hair dyeing (though he uses hand-crafted hair potions, not Muggle items) to retain the color for long periods of time without magic to hopefully remain under the radar of constant magic use when such as precaution is necessary. Also when necessary, he will magically alter the color of his eyes to a blue closely resembling his mother's and attempt to darken his skin tone from deathly pale so any simple descriptions of him as a fugitive will not fit at a glance.

Used to a life of luxury, his accustomed attire is the finest of everything from clothes to the occasional family heirloom accessory (his crest ring, his maternal grandfather's pocketwatch), but as a fugitive he had to adapt to having available funds in short supply as well as needing to blend in more easily than his fashion sense would have formerly allowed. The ring and the pocketwatch are both stored away safely in a secured location, one of the locations Lucius had previously placed enough money and supplies for them to make use of if they could not contact Narcissa.
HABITS: From the events of the last few years, Draco now has two slight nervous tics when exceedingly anxious that can appear together or separately. He stretches his neck at an old angle, tipping his head to the side before raising his chin and he sniffs slightly, a sound some might mistake for him catching a cold or expressing disdain in true Malfoy style.

Inward
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Proud, extremely arrogant, spoiled, openly disdainful, whiny
PERSONALITY: Draco has quite the temper, arguably inherited from both his parents. There are many instances in which he has been unable to control the urge to give in to his temper and for most of his school career those times centered around his Gryffindor enemies setting him off. Being admired, adored and even mildly feared was something he just accepted as his due and so he can be very arrogant. As he has been used to getting exactly as he wants for so long that even now, when things don't go his way (as is often the case now while on the run) he does still revert to younger-aged behaviors, such as sulking. He has little tolerance for those he views beneath him in blood purity, intelligence and talent, which once included a great majority of the people in the world and now includes even more because his 'approved' circle has gotten smaller and smaller. He does not take what he views as betrayal well at all and taking shots at his parents verbally or physically threatening his mother (were Lucius still alive, this would include him) still gets the same angered response out of him, only now it is darkened by his experiences. Before, he would threaten verbally, now he will kill if provoked. Killing is something he has no taste for in any way, except in revenge.

While Draco is often selfish in many ways, he has always been fiercely devoted to both Lucius and Narcissa. That loyalty and love for his parents often asserted itself to inspire him to act better than that selfishness, but it was also his weakness, or rather, it was something that the Dark Lord viewed as a weakness because he was able to manipulate Draco so easily with threats to Lucius and Narcissa's well being. With his task, Draco began to learn how to do things he does not want to do, things that are the exact opposite of what he wants in some cases, so he could keep them from danger. Feeling he failed Lucius by not being there to stop Severus or get between his father and Severus at the critical point and be the one to die instead, he had become very focused on keeping Narcissa safe in every way, as even with the Dark Lord not longer a danger to her, the Ministry still is in his eyes if he returns home.
STRENGTHS: Familial loyalty, which has given him more character than lessons could ever teach; the ability to pinpoint weaknesses in others and use them to his advantage (or, as a weakness, for his own entertainment)
WEAKNESSES: Arrogance and his purist beliefs; his inability to think clearly when those he loves are in danger; petulance and allowing that petulance to get in the way of his intelligence, which often causes him to make bad decisions
IQ: Above-average. As his personality often leads to stupid choices that make him seem less intelligent, his intelligence tends to show more with 'book smarts' than 'street smarts'
EXTROVERT/INTROVERT: He has developed into an introverted person, despite being very social in both positive and negative ways, as he does not like anyone getting to close to him.
PHOBIAS/FEARS: His capture; his mother's injury, imprisonment, death (basically anything bad that could happen to her, he fears it); injury, imprisonment and death of those who get close enough to him
MENTAL HEALTH: Were he to undergo 'Muggle' psychiatric analysis, it would likely reveal Draco as suffering post-traumatic stress disorder, manifesting in a long list of ways. He often has nightmares which have detracted from his health as he has become quite the insomniac, but being awake does not always save him as he occasionally has waking flashbacks to the final battle. He is very emotionally detached concerning Lucius being dead, though he will switch to the opposite (extreme distress) when exposed to reminders of that event, something he tends to avoid having happen if at all possible. He can be extremely irritable, which is further compounded by the stress of being on the run, and he is easily startled which will often shift to hypervigilance in the wake of whatever startled him. Along with his sleeplessness and the stress of being on the run affecting his internal processes, he does not eat well as he often finds himself not hungry, even when he should be hungry.

His Story
CHILDHOOD HOME: Wiltshire, England
HISTORY: Draco, born the only son and heir to the Malfoy family name and wealth, had a childhood befitting royalty, which was no surprise given the fact Lucius and Narcissa regarded him as every bit a prince. Denied nothing, Draco grew up quite spoiled with everything he could ever want and often things he did not specifically need. His parents saw nothing wrong with this for many years, though they realized as he grew that it made him somewhat harder (and sometimes nearly impossible) to control. Realizing that, they soon learned balance in some ways, so while Draco was as spoiled as ever because he knew he would get the best of everything, that spoiling went beyond gifts to character-building things such as the best magic tutors at a young age and trips to all sorts of touristy wizarding spots to teach him about the world outside the Manor.

Draco was raised with the ideas Narcissa and Lucius had been raised with, and their families before them, though admittedly Draco's parents were far more attentive and affectionate with him that his grandparents had been with them. While affection and nurturing came easily to Narcissa, Lucius took longer to learn how to let down his public image in private with his son. It was not always a success, but Draco's admiration for his father grew so much with each year that missteps or backsteps by his father were often forgotten soon after they occurred. Draco tried to learn early on, for he was in possession of the beginnings of Slytherin-quality cunning from an early age, how to copy his parents' public personas, but over the years he often failed at the act when his temper got the best of him.

That indulgent lifestyle of his youth continued throughout most of Draco's years at Hogwarts, often showing itself in gifts rather than physical affection, simply due to Draco being at school instead of at home. Narcissa sent sweets often, which Draco loved every minute of due to his sizable sweet tooth and the gifts inspired by Lucius were often extravagant, such as buying the entire Slytherin team new brooms in celebration of Draco becoming Seeker, not as a bribe to get his son the spot as some believed. Lucius also advised Draco often, schooling him in how to advance his own agenda while still appearing respectable enough to remain above trouble and aided Draco's predilection for finding things to embarrass his rivals. Even the Dark Lord's return had little real affect on Draco for some time, as he was away from home to miss the arguments of his parents and to understand that while they had told him all these years about blood purity, the Dark Lord was someone they would rather not follow despite the face-value of those beliefs matching. For some time he remained ignorant and sometimes even purposefully oblivious to the risks of the side they were all on, as his upbringing made it easy to simply rely on his parents to get him out of any mess.

However, Lucius' imprisonment drastically altered his life and perceptions of the world around him. With that event, Draco was forced to examine his prior, naive belief that being a pureblood and a Malfoy meant he would never need to worry about anything. He would never abandon his beliefs about blood, as he had been raised with them and felt them too strongly to do otherwise, but taking the Mark to be like Lucius and 'take care of the filth' was no longer as appealing once his eyes had been opened. However, avoiding service to his father's master was not to be, for the Dark Lord soon discovered Draco's one 'weakness' – his devotion to his parents – and used it mercilessly against Draco with the assignment of the task of breaching the security of Hogwarts and killing Dumbledore. With his parents' safety in the balance, there was little Draco would not do over the school year in order to accomplish his mission.

In the Astronomy Tower, when Draco lowered his wand, he had already decided not to kill the Headmaster, a decision made based on the promise Dumbledore had made to him. The action came, not out of any change of heart over his beliefs or desire to join the 'other side', but out of his natural opportunistic nature asserting itself with the realization that his family would be safer in this way than in any other way Draco could ever manage. Often rash, Draco had still manged to use his intelligence and determination to fulfill his mission and that intelligence did not fail him in that moment, knowing Dumbledore was a powerful enough ally-of-sorts.

Yet, with Dumbledore dead, Draco and his family were still at the Dark Lord's mercy. Further resentment of Severus occurred at that point, more so than there had been before, this time at what Draco saw as his lost chance to finally protect his parents. This was far more than outward petulance and earlier accusations that Severus had tried to steal his thunder. That has simply been out of the fear someone would get to Dumbldore and finish the task he was meant to do, leaving his family further in danger with his failure. This was something that lay silently under the surface as the next year and the war progressed.

None of this though, not Draco's life all along or in the past year, could truly prepare him for the life he would face during the war. On the run with other Death Eaters, he lived in constant fear that he would fall out of favor with the Dark Lord further after barely being 'granted' a Mark on his arm for his success with all other aspects of his mission instead of death at the Dark Lord's hand for failing to kill Dumbledore himself. There was only one short period of hiding in the Manor some time after the prisoners in Azkaban were broken out, long enough so he and his father could see to Narcissa's safety, but it was enough to remind him of the life he had once had and that left him deeply affected, wondering if there would be a life for all of them after the war ended.

At the final battle, Draco saw no other place for himself than at his father's side. However, the two ended up separated during the battle and when Draco spotted Lucius again, it was to see his father killed by Severus. Too far away to do anything for his father, the sight sent him running, not out of fear for his own life, but out of the initial panicked need to get to Malfoy Manor and make certain Narcissa was safe now that there was one less Malfoy to see to her well being. Though he did reach the Manor, it took some time because of a wound in his side from a direct hit by a member of the other side. He was unable to see her when he did make it, as Aurors arrived right after him, searching for any DE who had not died or been captured and were possibly taking refuge there.

Injured and still panicked, Draco waited close to the Manor in hopes the Aurors would leave eventually and he could see his mother, but as the truth of everything replaced initial shock and panic, he realized that he would be protecting her better by staying far away to keep her from being accused of anything that might land her in Azkaban. He left then, going to one of the preplanned spots where Lucius had left money, clothing and other essentials, such as a spare wand, and gathered all the items after tending to his wound as best as he could. From there, he went on the run again, this time alone.

Draco was on the run in the months since the final battle. He had gotten better at it than he was during the war and during the first month completely on his own, naturally avoiding major wizarding areas where he might have been recognized even with a disguise. Though at times he crossed paths with other DE on the run, he had not been in frequent contact with most of them until he started using one of the journals. His goals since the final battle were to avoid capture and to avoid any risk to his mother, no matter what he personally wanted to do, so he has not contacted her since his failed attempt after the last battle. One goal that will not change no matter his circumstances is to locate Severus, the feeling of revenge rising when he is forced to face thought of his father death. He intends to avenge his father's death despite the things Severus did for the Malfoys.

With the aide of the journals, Draco was befriended (or rather, re-befriended) by Daphne in February, the two bonding to each other through similar and shared personal pasts and feelings of being alone in the world, left that way by what seemed to be the desertion of old friends. Draco is still successfully avoiding contact with his mother, though with Daphne and Rabastan to argue her case, it may only be a matter of time before someone tells her, he slips up accidentally or he succumbs and contacts her.

FRIENDS: Daphne Greengrass. The two former a closer friendship in February of 1999. In his younger years, he had a long list of friends, both those closest to him (emotionally or just those who spent a large portion of time with him) including Pansy Parkinson, Gregory Goyle, Vincent Crabbe and other Slytherins in his year. Now, he is uncertain who his friends truly are after all that has occurred.
ENEMIES: He is a wanted Death Eater who has not lost his personal views on blood purity, so practically everyone could be some form of enemy.
HOME: Due to his fugitive status, “home” is a concept of the past. He stays wherever he feels is safest for the moment, moving frequently. Malfoy Manor is his home by inheritance but he is unable to claim it as a fugitive. He is not aware that it now stands empty in the wake of his mother's choice to move to Black property, which will also be open to him as a home should he ever be free to decide.
FINANCES: While Draco stood to inherit the considerable combined total of his parents' properties and money later in life before becoming a fugitive, he now exists on the funds Lucius thought to hide away in various parts of the country should any of the family no longer have access to their vaults and other assets.

Other
FAVOURITES:
Activities: Flying, Quidditch
Colour: Forest green, burgundy that is almost black (which he says is not a Gryffindor color!)

Food: Any kind of sweets, at all
Smell: Whatever is in the farthest corner of the gardens of Malfoy Manor, but he doesn't know flowers (he associates the smell with some of his favorite memories as a small child); the smell of the air when he's going high and fast on his broom
LEAST FAVOURITES:
Activities: Killing, menial labour
Colour: Yellow
Drink: Milk
Food: Black pudding
Smell: Cigars and most tobacco smoke, except pipes

Astrological
SIGN: Slytherin Gemini
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac and has influence over the hands, arms, shoulders, and lungs. Positive traits include quick wits, versatility, flexibility, fluency with words and ideas, an open mind, a love of learning, adaptability, agility, sharp perception, and cheerfulness; negative traits are duplicity, mood swings, flightiness, nervousness, fidgeting, lack of attention span, a tendency to be easily influenced, and undependability.

Ever heard the phrase "snake-tongued?" It must have been invented to describe a Slytherin Gemini. (This doesn't refer to the Parseltongue gift, either, although the few Slytherin wizards who exhibited it have had a disproportionate number of Geminis in their midst.) Slytherin Geminis have the dubious gift of being able to lay the blarney on thick, and be believed. This is due to both their imaginative mental agility and to their skill with words. Of course, not all Slytherin Geminis are liars - but it is probably advisable to get all sides of the story if you hear interesting gossip from one of these wizards. Slytherins born under the sign of Gemini are also naturally skilled at any magical work which involves sleight of hand or incantations. They are less determined and aggressive than the average Slytherin, though, save perhaps in a field that involves debate. You will find far more of them chatting in the common room or looking up arcane lore in the library than on the Quidditch field or in a dueling match, with the exception of Quidditch Seekers: the sharp eyesight and quick reflexes associated with Gemini are good traits for a Seeker to have.
